Get the barbies out lads, the hot weather is on its way back next week

Just when you thought that the Irish summer was done and dusted for another year, the temperatures are set to soar into the late 20s next week and into next weekend.

We all thought we had been spoiled by the unexpected yet extremely welcome spell of glorious weather last month and although temperatures have remained relatively high since, the rain has also returned with a vengeance in recent weeks.

Thankfully, we’re set to experience a return to more pleasant conditions next week and into next weekend and although the mercury mightn’t hit the highs of mid-to-late July, it will be warm enough – up to 27 degrees – to don the shorts and flip-flops once again and think about getting the barbies out.

Met Éireann forecaster Pat Clarke is quoted as saying in the Irish Independent: “We won’t be seeing anything like what we had in July – but certainly the forecasting models we are using have been hinting of a warmer and settled period on the way.

“It won’t be the oppressive heat that a lot of people don’t actually like, but nice warm weather.”

That’s good enough for us Pat; see you at the beach.
