Glee star Jane Lynch to take part in Mayo town's virtual St Patrick's Day parade

She is going to take part in an event that should be so good.

Hollywood star Jane Lynch will be taking part in this year's Swinford St Patrick's Day parade, according to Midwest Radio.

The parade - which would typically take place in Swinford in Mayo - will be going virtual for the second year in a row due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Instead of an in-person event, hosts of the Swinford Chats Podcast Tommy Stenson and Cathal Kelly have teamed up with the town's parade committee to broadcast a two hour special video live stream on Facebook and YouTube this Tuesday evening at 8pm.

Actress and comedian Jane Lynch - best known for playing cheerleading coach and bully Sue Sylvester in Glee - will be joining the pair to celebrate her Irish roots.

The star's grandparents Mary Lynskey and William Lynch grew up in the Swinford area before emigrating to the US in 1918.

The event teased the announcement on Facebook, writing: "We are looking forward to our online broadcast this Tuesday at 8pm when we will showcase a great Swinford St. Patrick's Day celebration.

"We are very 'Gleeful' to announce a very special guest appearance later today. Stay tuned."

This is the 70th year of the Swinford St Patrick's Day parade and organisers have said the broadcast will feature a host of other guests from the worlds of music, sport and business.
