VIDEO: Fans at music festival panic at the sound of gunshots fired in Las Vegas

The Route 91 Harvest Music Festival was taking place near the scene of the incident.

Two people have been reported dead and approximately 24 injured as a result of an incident at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Footage recorded at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas shows panicked festival goers reacting to the sound of gunshots at the nearby Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Sunday night.

A number of performers at the festival reported hearing gunshots on social media and footage from the scene shows fans reacting in a state of panic to the sound of gunshots in the background.

Two people have been reported dead and approximately 24 injured as a result, while dozens of Las Vegas police patrol vehicles are said to have descended on the south end of the Las Vegas strip, where the shooting took place.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have advised that part of Las Vegas Boulevard has been closed and urged people to avoid the south end of the strip, while several flights due to arrive at the nearby McCarran Airport have been diverted as a result.

The police department also confirmed that one suspect is down and reiterated their plea to the public to avoid the area.
