Haribo global supply chain issue could cause “disruption” to Irish customers

Say it ain’t so.

German confectionery company Haribo has said it is facing a global supply chain issue that could cause a “short-term disruption” in deliveries to Irish shops.

The sweets giant has confirmed it has been experiencing challenges on account of a lorry driver shortage.

While the issue has been highlighted by several UK news outlets, Haribo confirmed to JOE that it could effect Ireland as well.

In a statement, a spokesperson from the company said: “This is a global supply chain issue and not specific to the UK.

“As is the case with many manufacturers and retailers, we are experiencing challenges with regards to the driver shortage.”

While Ireland could see some disruption in regards to the delivery of the popular sweets, the company has said kids and grown-ups should not fear.

“We are however, continuing to make lots of deliveries to our customers and while there may be some short-term disruption people in Ireland do not need to worry, our treats will be available in store,” the spokesperson added.
