The sentence was handed down on Wednesday.
Former movie producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for last month’s convictions on first-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree rape.
Judge James Burke ignored appeals for leniency from Weinstein’s lawyers and imposed a 20-year sentence for the first-degree criminal sexual act conviction and three years for the third degree rape conviction.
Dozens of women have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct, including rape, against Weinstein since October 2017.
Throughout the process, Weinstein denied wrongdoing and his lawyers have said they will appeal against his convictions.
