Health Minister Stephen Donnelly self-isolates after experiencing Covid symptoms

The Department of Health’s Budget 2022 press conference has been rescheduled.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly was forced to self-isolate after experiencing symptoms of Covid-19, it has been revealed.

A statement from the Department of Health on Wednesday (13 October) stated that Donnelly has experienced “mild” symptoms of the virus.

Following the symptoms, the Health Minister immediately self-isolated and arranged a Covid-19 test, which returned a “not detected” result.

His department said that Donnelly will continue to follow the public health advice, including working from home.

As a result, the Department of Health’s Budget 2022 press conference that was set to take place on Wednesday afternoon has been rescheduled.

It will now take place on Thursday, 14 October via video conference.

“The Department of Health’s Budget 2022 press conference is being rescheduled to tomorrow, Thursday 14 October and will now take place by video conference – an updated media notice will issue in due course.

“Minister Donnelly has experienced mild symptoms of Covid-19. As per public health advice, Minister Donnelly immediately self-isolated and arranged a test which has returned a ‘not detected’ result.

“Minister Donnelly will continue to follow the public health advice (including working from home) and encourages anyone who experiences symptoms of Covid-19 to self-isolate and get tested straight away. You can arrange a test on www.hse.ie or by contacting your GP.”
