Met Éireann Heat Warning: 29C Forecast for Leinster and Tipperary

Heat warning comes as hosepipe ban could be extended

Uisce Éireann has now signalled the ban may stretch beyond 26 August. Margaret Attridge, the utility’s Head of Water Operations, told RTÉ’s Drivetime that a regional extension may be considered, noting that rainfall in recent weeks has left the northwest more stable than other parts of the country.

“Supplies across the country are already under pressure due to the warm weather we’ve had over the summer and Met Éireann are now forecasting another period of really settled warm weather.”

“We are keeping everything under review, we’re continuing to monitor all supplies across the country,” Attridge added, saying lifting the order will depend on the weather forecast and the soil moisture deficit. In the meantime, anyone in the warning area hoping to cool off with a sprinkler or a paddling pool will have to sit this heatwave out.
