Over €280,000 worth of heroin seized from house in Dublin

The drugs were seized on Monday night.

Almost €300,000 worth of drugs were seized in Dublin on Monday night, as part of an intelligence led operation targeting organised criminality.

The Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau carried out a search of a residence in the Ballyfermot area, on Monday 13 May.

During the course of the operation Gardaí seized heroin to the value of €280,000 and cocaine to the value of €12,000 (pending analysis).

A 48-year-old man  was arrested at the scene and is currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

Speaking on Tuesday afternoon, Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll of Special Crime Operations said: “An Garda Síochána is committed to disrupting the activities of organised criminals supplying drugs to our communities.

“This seizure of a substantial quantity of heroin and cocaine is significant in disrupting this supply.”
