Hurricane Ophelia is set to keep kids out of school in five different counties on Monday October 16.

Bus Éireann has confirmed that it will suspend its School Transport Scheme services in Cork, Kerry, Clare, Mayo and Galway for Monday after Met Éireann issued a weather warning relating to the oncoming hurricane.

Met Éireann released a red weather warning on Saturday morning,  predicting “Mean wind speeds in excess of 80 km/h and gusts in excess of 130km/h are expected, potentially causing structural damage and disruption, with dangerous marine conditions due to high seas and potential flooding.”

The warning will be in effect from 9am on Monday until 3am on Tuesday, meaning that the School Transport Scheme for Tuesday should remain unaffected by Hurricane Ophelia.

We can’t imagine there will be too many kids complaining about the day off.
