All of these iconic buildings around the world will be going green for St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick's Day

Over 300 stadiums, statues, museums and towers, all over the world.

St. Patrick’s Day is a little over a month away and as is the case every year, people all over the world will be joining in the celebrations on our national holiday.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, but few national holidays have as much impact around the globe as the one that falls on March 17 and some of the most iconic venues on the planet will be going green to mark the occasion.

Those buildings include the Empire State Building in New York City, Niagara Falls and the Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro to name but a few, while amongst the new additions in 2018 are the Space Needle in Seattle, the fountains in London’s Trafalgar Square and the San Mamés stadium in Bilbao, the home of Athletic Club Bilbao.

The Sydney Opera House, meanwhile, will once again turn green for the first time in four years, while few cities celebrate St. Patrick’s Day like Chicago, where Navy Pier, the John Hancock Center, the Wrigley Building, the Civic Opera House and Soldier Field will all be turning green this year.

2018 is the ninth year of the Global Greening initiative by Tourism Ireland, who will also mark St. Patrick’s Day by inviting international journalists from top media outlets around the globe to visit Ireland and take in the Dublin St Patrick’s Day parade during their stay.

You can see the full list of buildings going green around the globe on St. Patrick’s Day below and you can also view a list of the destinations Irish Government Ministers will be visiting here.
