These are the important dates from An Post for sending Christmas post

Stephen Porzio

The postal service has issued a reminder to customers 10 days ahead of Christmas.

An Post is flagging the important dates for customers to remember if they are still planning on sending someone a card or parcel through the service for Christmas.

According to its website, the service’s latest posting dates to ensure delivery before Christmas include:

  • Saturday, 18 December for standard post letters to the rest of Europe
  • Monday, 20 December for standard post letters and parcels to the United Kingdom
  • Wednesday, 22 December for standard post letters and parcels to Irish addresses.

More information and dates for other countries can be found at An Post’s website here.

The postal service has also said there will be a full national mail collection and delivery service on Saturday, 18 December.

On top of this, post offices will remain open until 5.30pm on Saturday too.

With Christmas arriving in just ten days, An Post has also issued some handy posting advice to customers.

People are urged to pack mail items correctly and securely, to always address mail in capital letters or with a printed label and to always include a sender’s name and address on the front top left hand corner of the item.

An Post’s national network handles around 2 million mail items each day with that figure tripling each year as the Christmas holiday approaches.
