Lucky so and so.

We hate to break it to you, but the vast majority of you reading will never win the lottery, or at least never win a sum so substantial that it’ll change your life for ever.

Winning €10 after three numbers and the bonus in the Quick Pick will not change your life for ever.

Hard as that might be to take, could you imagine if you had won but actually couldn’t claim your winnings because you had misplaced your ticket?

That nearly happened to an anonymous lady from Cork, who yesterday claimed €500,000 in Lotto HQ after finding a winning ticket she had originally purchased in Killarney on March 10.

In a press in her kitchen.

“It was a warm day and I fancied a cone. But it was too early in the year to get one so I bought a Euromillions ticket instead,” the lady, who wished to remain anonymous, is quoted as saying in the Irish Examiner.

“I found the ticket in my press last week and brought it with me to check when I was doing the shopping. When I scanned the ticket it said to contact the National Lottery so I wasn’t sure what I’d won.”

“I couldn’t believe it when I was told it was half a million.”

We’re not jealous, we’re not jealous at all.
