Fancy an island getaway?

Have you ever wanted to get away from it all?

Maybe it’s all the hot weather talking, but all we’ve been able to think about is sand, sea, and tranquility.

If you’re like us and fancy getting away from the hustle and bustle of your town, you might be interested in getting away from it all and spending the year on one of the most well-known and beautiful of Ireland’s many islands.

Comhlacht Forbartha Inis Meáin are providing families with the opportunity to spend a year on the island, completely rent free.

“Is a rent free year on Inis Meáin your dream?,” the announcement reads.

“This can now be your reality as Comhlacht Forbartha Inis Meáin are offering a family with school age children the opportunity to move to Inis Meáin this September and to live rent free in a lovely modern house for the academic year.”

Amenities on the island include a preschool, primary school, and secondary school for children, and remote working hubs and employment opportunities for adults.

The new remote working hub is one of 30 G-Teic hubs around the various Gaeltachts in the country, including Gweedore, Spiddal, Carna and Achill Island.

Living on the island will also give families “the opportunity to be completely immersed in the Irish language and culture”.

Families with any level of Irish are free to apply, but those that are líofa (fluent) or have cúpla focail may consider applying to immerse themselves fully into their teanga dhúchais.

If this sounds like a dream come true, applications are open now to be the lucky family selected to head to the island.

Those interested in heading West can contact the Comhlacht Forbartha via their email address, [email protected].

But act fast, as applications close on 10 August, so register your interest as soon as possible.

Ádh mór daoibh!
