Ireland World Cup bid

This would be huge…

While we didn’t quite make the cut to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup, we eventually lost out to France following a long campaign *shakes fist angrily*, it seems a bid is being considered for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The FAI has revealed that they’re conducting a feasibility review into a potential joint-bid for the 2030 competition along with England, Wales and Scotland.

In a statement on Wednesday evening, the FAI said:

“Following recent positive discussions amongst all parties it has been agreed that the Football Association of Ireland will join the English, Irish, Welsh and Scottish FAs in conducting a feasibility review into a potential joint bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.”

Qatar are planned as hosts of the 2022 finals, and 2026 will be a joint hosted finals between Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Can you imagine Ireland lining out for a World Cup game in the Aviva?
