Irishman dies after collapsing in a restaurant in Cambodia

An Irish man has died after collapsing at a restaurant in Cambodia.

According to local media reports, the man died very suddenly at 3:30pm on Friday.

The man is said to have collapsed not long after entering the Sara Ethiopian Restaurant on Street 172 in Phnom Penh. It is reported that he was seated in the restaurant and fell to the floor while drinking tea. Staff tried to come to his aid but he was already unresponsive.

It was also reported that the incident was captured by a member of the public on Facebook Live and images from the scene were shared by local media.

A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said: “We are aware of the case and we are providing consular assistance.”
