An incident of violent disorder took place before Sunday afternoon’s FAI Cup final.

Gardaí have launched an investigation into violent clashes that took place between fans of Bohemians and St. Patrick’s Athletic prior to the FAI Cup final on Sunday, 28 November.

Images and video of the altercation circulated widely on social media, depicting numerous individuals engaging in what An Garda Síochána has referred to as “an incident of violent disorder” in Dublin 4, during which time missiles including flares were thrown.

In response, Bohemians pledged to ban any identifiable supporters who participated in the fracas.

On Wednesday, Gardaí issued an official appeal for witnesses in relation to the brawl.

The incident took place at approximately 2.50pm outside a premises on the Irishtown Road in advance of the match at the Aviva Stadium.

Local uniformed Gardaí attended the scene, reporting damage caused to a number of vehicles outside the premises and a number of individuals assaulted.

No arrests have been made in relation to the investigation as of yet, while a senior investigating officer has been assigned to oversee the inquiry.

Given the widely-shared video footage of the clash that quickly circulated on social media, Gardaí are asking for anyone who may have recorded footage of their own to come forward.

They are also appealing to any road users who were travelling in the vicinity of Irishtown Road shortly before 3pm on Sunday to make their camera footage available, should they have any relevant to the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Irishtown Garda Station on 01 666 9600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
