Samantha Power, the US ambassador to the United Nations, has spoken powerfully about the deaths of hundreds of civilians in Aleppo as the Syrian government take control of the besieged city. The UN had reported 'summary killings' of civilians by government forces, aided by their allies in both Russia and Iran. Under the terms of the deal and according to The Guardian, a ceasefire went into effect at 6pm local time.
