It’s going to be fierce windy out today lads as Met Eireann issue Status Yellow weather warning

Ugh.

Conor Heneghan

This’ll hardly help the January blues.

That’s right folks, it’s as if the weather is reflective of the mood of a nation returning to work this week, with miserable conditions forecast pretty much between now and the weekend.

Met Eireann have saw fit to issue a Status Yellow weather warning that will be valid until 3pm this afternoon, with winds of 50-70 km/h expected throughout the country and gusts of 90-110 km/h predicted in Atlantic coastal counties.

Although temperatures will be fairly mild – somewhere in the region of 10 and 12 degrees – heavy rain is expected throughout the day and you only need to look at Met Eireann’s rainfall radar this morning for an idea of what’s in store.

Drier spells are predicted tomorrow but the misery will return at the weekend with heavy rain expected on Friday and Saturday ahead of temperatures dropping to around freezing late on Saturday night.

Better not leave the couch folks.
