Suspect in Jamey Carney killing arrested in Jordan

The mother of one was found dead in her home last week in Killarney, Co.Kerry.

Gardai were informed by their Jordanian counterparts on Monday that he had been detained. There is currently no extradition between Ireland and Jordan.

Gardai believe Mr Al Saqar boarded a 3am bus to Dublin last Tuesday morning before flying to Turkey. He had left Ireland before Gardai could notify ports and airports.

Ms Carney who was originally from New York was discovered by her 13 year-old daughter and had sustained serious injuries.

Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan said on RTE earlier today : “No matter where you are, the gardai will seek to pursue you.”
