The article was published on Friday.

A column Jeremy Clarkson wrote where he ranted against Meghan Markle has been removed online after causing uproar.

The article was originally published online on The Sun on Friday and went into detail about how much Clarkson “hates” the royal “on a cellular level”.

He also wrote about how he dreams that people would throw “excrement” at her as she walked naked in the streets.

He then went on to say that he hates the Duchess of Sussex more than serial killer Rose West, who was responsible for the murder and torture of young women.

He added: “Everyone who’s my age thinks the same way.”

The article has now been deleted from The Sun’s website as of Monday afternoon and the publication explained that Clarkson had “asked us to take last week’s column down”.

The news comes after Britain’s independent press standards organisation, Ipso, reported that over 12,000 complaints related to the column had been received, along with many social media users condemning the piece.

In a statement, Ipso said: “Ipso has received more than 12,000 complaints (5pm, 19 December 2022) about an opinion piece on the Duchess and Duke of Sussex written by Jeremy Clarkson and published by The Sun on Friday, 16 December 2022.

“The piece was removed from The Sun’s website this afternoon. We will follow our usual processes to examine the complaints we have received. This will take longer than usual because of the volume of complaints.

“Using the Editors’ Code of Practice, we examine the complaints we receive and try to seek a resolution between the complainant and publication.”

Jeremy has since also given an apology for the “hurt” he has caused amid the backlash, tweeting on Monday: “Oh dear. I’ve rather put my foot in it.

“In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people. I’m horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future.”
