Brolly was previously a regular on RTÉ programme The Sunday Game.

Well-known GAA pundit Joe Brolly has initiated High Court proceedings against RTÉ.

The proceedings were filed on Thursday and Brolly is represented by Rennick Solicitors.

Brolly, now aged 51, played Gaelic football for Derry in the 1990s and early 2000s, before becoming one of the most high-profile, and often controversial, GAA pundits around.

He was a regular on the long-running RTÉ programme The Sunday Game until his controversial departure in 2019, on which he elaborated on in a live recording of Ireland Unfiltered on JOE in Derry shortly afterwards.

Earlier this year, Brolly appeared on a Claire Byrne Live debate about a United Ireland, but was taken off air after he made comments regarding the DUP, an episode Brolly was highly critical of on social media in the immediate aftermath.

Regarding the High Court action, RTÉ has said it does not comment on legal matters.
