JOE meets the director of Irish horror Citadel, Ciaran Foy

JOE meets Ciaran Foy, the director of new Irish horror film Citadel. He's not as scary as the film...

Eoghan Doherty

Citadel, an Irish psychological thriller, tells the creepy tale of Tommy (Aneurin Barnard), a widower who has to raise his baby daughter alone after a brutal attack by a strange gang leaves his wife dead and him suffering from agoraphobia.

Not a romantic comedy then.

To mark the release of the film, JOE caught up with the director Ciaran Foy to talk about his love of horror films, having to think on his feet because of silly Scottish snow and he opens up about his own personal experience with agoraphobia.

The film has already won the Audience Award at the 2012 SXSW film Festival and will be released in Irish cinemas on 21 June so book your tickets now.

JOE’s tip – bring clean underwear.
