John Boyega speech

“I don’t know if I’m going to have a career after this. But fuck that.”

Actor John Boyega delivered a passionate speech at a Black Lives Matter protest in Hyde Park on Wednesday.

Boyega had previously posted a number of videos on his Instagram page detailing how he feels about the current situation in America, and voicing his deep frustration.

Speaking to a large crowd at the protest in London, Boyega fought through the tears as he called on people around the world to continue the protest, and to continue showing solidarity.

“I need you to understand now how painful this shit is. I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded everyday that your race means nothing… We are a physical representation of our support for George Floyd.”

He also insisted that all protests remain peaceful and organised, saying: “They want us to mess up. They want us to be disorganised. Not today.”

Boyega went on to reference other black people who had been killed by police, including Sandra Bland, Trayvon Martin and Mark Duggan who was killed in London in 2011.

Boyega is perhaps best known for his performances in the most recent Star Wars trilogy, where he played beloved character Finn.
