The house must have been in some state.

A luxury holiday home in Kerry suffered criminal damage worth approximately €4,000 after a Leaving Cert graduation party that took place in the house on May 20.

According to the Irish Examiner, a full inspection and a Garda technical examination found that €3,000-4,000 worth of criminal damage was done to the luxury holiday home in Aghadoe, which was rented out by a number of students from St. Brendan’s College, an all-boys school in Killarney.

It is believed that as many as 40 people, including around 25 students from the school, attended a party in the house, which took place on the same night as a graduation ceremony in the school.

The house was rented online for €150 and the organisers of the party covered the cost with a €5 cover charge for all those in attendance.

Following an inspection of the house, Gardai reported that almost all of the electronical equipment in the house was damaged or broken, the bannister was ripped off the stairs and doors and bathroom furniture was damaged.

Having initially estimated that approximately €2,000 worth of damage had been done to the property, it was subsequently upgraded to somewhere in the region of €3,000-4,000.

A number of students are currently being interviewed about the party on the night, although Gardai believe that the main suspects were not in the Leaving Cert year.

A Garda spokesperson is quoted in the Irish Examiner: “We were called to the house in the early hours of May 20.

“It was a post-graduation event and part-organised by individuals at the school. However, people from outside the school tagged along. By the time we were called in, most people had left.

“We have identified a number of suspects and have questioned some,” the spokesman said. “We are still trying to ascertain the number of people who actually attended the party and who exactly rented the property. This investigation is ongoing.”
