Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was assaulted in Dublin

The incident happened on Saturday morning.

A man has been injured in a serious assault in the Kilbarrack area of Dublin 5.

A 39-year-old male was cycling on Swans Nest Road, Kilbarrack, Dublin 5 when a car, described as a black saloon collided with him.

According to RTÉ, a number of men got out of the car and assaulted the injured man with unknown weapons before the men left the scene in the same car.

The injured man was then taken to Beaumont Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
