Male teenager dies following single-vehicle collision in Kilkenny

The incident occurred on Wednesday night.

A teenage boy has died following a fatal road traffic collision in Kilkenny.

The single-vehicle collision, involving a car, occurred after 8pm on Wednesday, 13 April at Dowling in Piltown.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene.

One of the passengers inside the car, a male teenager, was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body was later taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be carried out in due course.

Two other occupants from the car – both male – were taken to University Hospital Waterford.

They are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.

Having closed the road off to traffic overnight, Gardaí will conduct a technical examination of the scene on Thursday morning.

Local diversions have been put in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and for any road users with video footage – including dash cam – to make this footage available to them.
