Labour MP Kate Hoey says Ireland will have to pay for the border

Homenews

Labour MP for the constituency of Vauxhall is being torn to pieces online after saying on radio that Ireland will have to pay for the border between the Republic and the North once Brexit is complete.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4 Today, The Labour Brexiteer channelled her inner-Donald Trump when claiming that Ireland would have to pay for the border that would only exist as a result of Britain's choice to exit the EU. On the subject of a border or customs posts, Hoey said "At end of the day we won’t put up the border. They’ll have to pay for it." Hoey has been jabbing at Ireland for the past few days now, sharing an article on Twitter two days ago that urged Leo Varadkar to "stop the hypocrisy." https://twitter.com/KateHoeyMP/status/934372055306440705 Unsurprisingly, the MPs comments have gone down an absolute treat on Twitter. https://twitter.com/AidanKerrTweets/status/935071376247021568 https://twitter.com/PeterKGeoghegan/status/935067228067848192 https://twitter.com/damocrat/status/935066284072624128 https://twitter.com/wmarybeard/status/935066529993056257 https://twitter.com/rodkelly50/status/935066916829499392 https://twitter.com/PaulbernalUK/status/935081669387784192 https://twitter.com/brianmlucey/status/935078355648630785 https://twitter.com/PeterKGeoghegan/status/935066491569016833 https://twitter.com/mrjamesob/status/935073592034910208
