
Three-year-old girl killed in Laois road crash named locally
She is the second toddler to be killed on Irish roads within 24 hours.
The three-year-old girl killed in the road crash in Laois on Wednesday (30 August) has been named locally.
Rosaleen McDonagh passed away following the collision involving a car and a pedestrian that occurred on Cosby Avenue in the Fairgreen residential area of Portlaoise at around 1.15pm.
The infant girl was seriously injured during the crash and was rushed to Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise where she was later pronounced deceased.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Laois crash
Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage, including dashcam footage, and who were in the Fairgreen area of Portlaoise on Wednesday afternoon between 12.45 pm and 1.30 pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Rosaleen is the second toddler to be killed on Irish roads within 24 hours.
Tom O'Reilly, also aged 3, died in a separate road crash in Tipperary on Tuesday, 29 August.
His grandparents, aged in their 40s, were also killed in the collision.
