Best of luck!
55,000 students across Ireland will sit this year’s Leaving Certificate exams from today (9 June).
The 2021 Leaving Certificate is comprised of both examinations and accredited grades.
Candidates have been able to decide to sit their examinations, receive accredited grades, or both on a subject-by-subject basis – finalising their choices in early May.
Those who choose both will receive their better result between the two systems.
90% of all candidates in both the Leaving Certificate and the Leaving Certificate Applied have confirmed their intention to sit examinations this year.
The exams will kick off from Wednesday with English, Paper 1, with students to receive their Leaving Cert results from 3 September.
Education Minister Norma Foley wished Leaving Cert students the “very, very best” in a video message ahead of the exams.
She said: “I do know what a difficult time you have had in your last year in school in particular and I do know also that you have worked extremely hard for this moment. Congratulations to each one of you.
“It is really important that anyone sitting the examinations continues to follow all the public health guidance and that you keep your contacts to a minimum to keep yourself and to keep your friends safe”.
In this video message, Minister for Education @NormaFoleyTD1 wishes the Leaving Certificate class 2021 all the very best and thanks them for the courage, resilience and determination they have shown throughout the past year.
