A longer wait than expected.
Irish students won’t know their Leaving Cert results until 7 September, the Department of Education has confirmed this evening.
Leaving Cert results are typically published in the first two weeks of August, and Minister for Education Norma Foley was pushed for a date by Labour TD Aodhán Ó’RÃordáin in Dáil Éireann earlier today.
The Leaving Cert exams didn’t take place this year due to the spread of Covid-19, and exam results will be replaced by a Calculated Grade system, relying on predictions provided by students’ teachers. Foley confirmed this evening that students will be invited to register for an online portal on 20 June, for the purposes of receiving these results later in the year.
Minister Foley said: “From Monday 20 July at 12 o’clock, please go to the portal at gov.ie/LeavingCertificate, log in and confirm that you wish to receive your Calculated Grades results later in the summer.
“Calculated Grades will provide you with a formal record of your work and achievements in second-level school. They will be fair and reliable, and will be accepted by employers and colleges. The results will be issued on 7 September, so that they will operate seamlessly with the CAO system and UCAS in the UK.
“All of this means that you have certainty that you will be able to use the grades to move on to the next phase of your life, either in work or further study, in the autumn.”
