E-mergency legislation to be passed tonight.
In the Court of Appeal this morning, a ruling on the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 effectively means that certain drugs that had been declared illegal are currently legal.
A number of banned drugs have been made legal as a result such as ecstasy, ketamine and crystal meth.
As a result, TDs will sit tonight in the Dail to pass emergency legislation rendering the drugs illegal again.
The bill will then go to the Seanad tomorrow. The Misuse of Drugs Amendment Bill will be presented to the Dáil this evening by Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar.
