Lots to get through today for the Taoiseach.

The Rugby World Cup is also on the Taoiseach’s mind today.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is travelling to London today to meet with British Prime Minister Theresa May where he will discuss Brexit and Northern Ireland.

Varadkar’s main priority of the visit is to reiterate his concern that there must be a satisfactory solution on the border issue.

May said on Friday last, that she would continue to honour the commitments of the proposed two-year transition period for the UK after its leaves under the bloc’s current budget and try everything to avoid friction at the borders.

According to RTÉ, May “said the British and Irish governments, and the EU as a whole, have made it clear that progress made in Northern Ireland in recent years would be protected.”

However, before Varadkar’s meeting with the British Prime Minister, he will be discussing all things rugby as Ireland makes one last big effort in their bid to host the World Cup.

Ireland is competing against France and South Africa in the 2023 bid and all three countries will make presentations to the World Rugby governing body in central London today with the winner announced within weeks.

The spine-tingling promo released yesterday is Ireland’s last push in the hope of bringing the tournament to Irish soil.

He will be joined by Irish legend Brian O’Driscoll, Ireland captain Niamh Briggs, bid chairman Dick Spring, Sports Minister Shane Ross and Philip Browne of the IRFU.
