Leo Varadkar says contact has been made with UAE in relation to Daniel Kinahan

Varadkar confirmed the Department of Foreign Affairs and the United Arab Emirates have been in touch regarding Daniel Kinahan.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said there has been contact between the Department of Foreign Affairs and the United Arab Emirates regarding Daniel Kinahan.

Responding to a question from Labour leader Alan Kelly in the Dáil on Thursday, Varadkar said: “While I can’t comment on any particular garda operation I can certainly assure you that there has been contact between the Department of Foreign Affairs and the authorities in the United Arab Emirates about that matter.”

He went on to say that he was surprised by the fact that Tyson Fury thanked Kinahan in a video posted on Wednesday evening.

Varadkar said that he was “taken aback” when he heard Fury thank the Irishman for helping to make the fight happen.

Tyson Fury posted a video on his social media pages on Wednesday that confirmed that a fight between him and Anthony Joshua.

This comes after Fine Gael Dublin TD Neale Richmond also called for action in relation to this development, in a lengthy statement released on Wednesday night.
