Liverpool are the Champions League winners, following their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night.

Mohamed Salah’s early penalty, and Divock Origi’s late belter was enough to see off Spurs in Saturday night’s Champions League final.

The penalty was somewhat controversially awarded after the ball struck the arm of Moussa Sissoko, and Salah blasted it down the middle, while goalkeeper Hugo Lloris dove to his left.

Spurs put up a fight, especially towards the end, with Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura, Heung-Min Son and Dele all going close. None could beat goalkeeper Alisson, who was fantastic on the night.

Liverpool got their second with only a couple of minutes left in the game, with substitute Divock Origi scoring with his weaker left foot into the far corner.

Roberto Firmino had started ahead of Origi, who only came on in the 58th minute, despite his heroics in the semi-final.

Similarly, Harry Kane started for Spurs, despite the doubts surrounding his fitness, while the hero of the semi-final Lucas Moura had to take a place on the bench.

This is Liverpool’s first Champions League trophy since the iconic Istanbul night in 2005.
