It was revealed last night that someone in Ireland had won €4,434,994 in the National Lottery. The winning numbers in question were 1, 2, 7, 33, 34 and 40 with a bonus number of 6.

Early indications suggested the north-west of the country was where the ticket was sold, and now we know the exact location.

The winning ticket was a quick pick sold in Lifford, Co Donegal.

More details will be released over the coming days but, for now, the National Lottery is urging players in the Donegal area to check their tickets.

Commenting on the results, a spokesperson said it is a “fantastic way to start the new year”.

Elsewhere, there was no winner of the Lotto Plus 1 top prize of €500,000, or the Lotto Plus 2 jackpot of €250,000.

There were 110 winners of the Raffle Prize, which had a winning number of 4045. All will receive €300 in total.
