Looks like Stephen’s Day is going to be wet and miserable so you might be as well off indoors

If this is the excuse you need to remain on the couch or go to the pub, then take it.

If this is the excuse you need to remain on the couch or go to the pub, then take it.

The weather Gods didn’t see fit to deliver a white Christmas to Ireland today and we must have done something rotten to p*ss them off because the next few days aren’t go to be pretty it seems.

According to Met Éireann, rain will extend to all areas throughout the country tomorrow morning and will turn heavy at times, particularly in the south. Sleet and maybe even snow is expected in areas of higher ground, but that is expected to clear later. It will be pretty windy in places and the mercury isn’t going to go any higher than a positively balmy 10 degrees.

The forecast for Saturday isn’t much better with further wintry showers and even lower temperatures and severe frost will kick in overnight ahead of a cold Sunday, when night-time temperatures will reach as cold as -6 degrees in places.

The few days after Christmas are often a time for outdoor-based activities throughout the country so it would be nice if the conditions played ball, but with that forecast, maybe we’ll all be better off staying indoors after all.

Those Christmas box-sets won’t watch themselves, you know.
