Louis Theroux is set to host an IFTA masterclass in Dublin next month.
The Emmy-nominated filmmaker and journalist will host the masterclass alongside Irish Academy members and other industry professionals.
Theroux will be sharing his knowledge and expertise in documentary making at the event moderated by award-winning broadcaster and producer Miriam O’Callaghan.
He will also receive a special presentation from the Irish Academy in recognition of his outstanding work in documentary making.
The three-time BAFTA winner is known for his immersive documentaries tackling complex issues, including My Scientology Movie and this year’s acclaimed The Settlers.
In a statement about the event, IFTA said that Theroux has "established a unique style and approach to his subject matter; shining a light on intriguing beliefs, behaviours, and institutions using a gentle questioning [and] an informal approach, offering rounded portraits of the people involved in complex social issues and human dilemmas."
The documentarian's career in television began in 1994 when he worked under the wing of Michael Moore as a writer and correspondent on TV Nation.
Following his time there, he went on to make the BAFTA-winning series Louis Theroux’s Weird Weekends, When Louis Met…, as well as a series of award-winning specials, including The Most Hated Family in America, Miami Mega Jail, Altered States and the feature-length documentary, My Scientology Movie.
He has addressed a number of heavily debated topics like drugs and sex work and has confronted many controversial figures such as Jimmy Saville and Joe Exotic.
Furthermore, he is now the host of the hugely successful podcast The Louis Theroux Podcast which has seen him interview high-profile figures including Ed Sheeran, Sean Penn, Baz Luhrmann, JADE and many more.
The masterclass will take place on October 8 in the Raddison Royal Blu Hotel, Dublin, and you can register your interest on the IFTA website.
