The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon.

Gardaí have confirmed that a woman in her 30s was killed following a road accident on the M50 on Thursday.

The incident took place on the M50 Northbound at Junction 5, where a man was also injured. The man, who is in his 50s, was taken to Connolly hospital, and his condition is not thought to be life threatening.

Graphic images of the incident circulated online following the crash, and Gardaí have urged people not to share the images.

In a statement released on Thursday night, Gardaí said: “Investigating Gardaí are aware images taken at the crash site are currently being circulated online and are asking people not to share or circulate the images out of respect to the family of the deceased and those involved in the collision.”

They have also asked for any information from anyone who was travelling on the M50 from Junction 6 and Junction 5 between 11.15 am and and 11.30 am.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Finglas Garda Station 01-6667500 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.

All lanes on the M50 northbound are open to traffic, while the slip road from the M50 northbound at Junction 5 (Finglas) is currently closed to all traffic and will remain closed for the coming hours to facilitate repairs to a crash barrier.
