Kate Demolder

It is not yet clear if there are any injuries.

All lanes on the M50 southbound have closed between junction 12 Firhouse and junction 13 Sandyford due to an overturned truck.

The incident, which occurred shortly after 6.30pm on the Navan Road near Auburn Avenue, has caused heavy delays on approach in both directions.

Traffic is being diverted off at junction 12, with motorists being advised by AA Roadwatch to “avoid this section of the M50. ”

Gardaí took to Twitter to first make the announcement shortly after 6.40pm to warn road users that delays would be experienced on approach.

Shortly after, Gardaí warned motorists to avoid the area as all lanes were currently closed due to the accident.

The AA also took to Twitter with the news, diverting traffic from the area.

Emergency services are currently at the scene, where it is unknown whether anyone has been injured.

More as we have it.
