The area on the city's northside was sealed off by Gardaí.

Gardaí are currently investigating a stabbing which left a man seriously injured on the outskirts of Cork City.

The incident took place on Wellington Road earlier today.

A man, believed to be in his 20s, was attacked in broad daylight near the gates of Griffith College on the residential street.

Gardaí have sealed off part of the street and say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The injured man was rushed to Cork University Hospital.

According to CorkBeo, locals said they heard shouting and alerted Gardaí to the incident after the victim was found bleeding on the street.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of a serious incident that occurred in Cork City this afternoon Wednesday 19th March 2025.

"As this is an ongoing incident no further information is available at this time."
