Man in his 60s dies following collision in Louth

The incident happened on Saturday evening.

A man in his 60s who was seriously injured in a collision on Saturday evening has died.

The accident, which occurred on the N2 north of Ardee at Aclint this weekend, resulted in the man being airlifted to hospital following some serious injuries.

The man was the sole occupant of the car.

He was pronounced dead in Beaumont Hospital on Sunday afternoon. The coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Two others, a male and female in their 20s were the occupants of the second vehicle, a van, and were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with what are described as non-life threatening injuries.

Investigating Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to contact them.
