The man previously collided with a Garda car while attempting to flee the scene of arrest in 2018.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of being involved in numerous burglary offences in Cork and Waterford during a 10-day period in May 2018.

On 11 May 2018, following a number of burglaries in the southern region over the previous 10 days, a Garda operation was implemented in an attempt to intercept and arrest the man in question. He fled the scene in a car and collided with two occupied vehicles, one of which was a Garda vehicle. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The man was arrested on Tuesday in Mallow and is currently being detained at Mayfield Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Investigations are ongoing.
