
Man arrested for charging Gardaí in Dundalk with a 4x4
The man will appear in court today.
A man who fled across the border into Northern Ireland after charging at Gardaí in a 4x4 vehicle has been arrested and charged in connection with endangerment of a Garda.
According to a statement issued by An Garda Síochána, while Gardaí were conducting a Covid-19 checkpoint at Ravensdale, Dundalk, a 4x4 drove at the checkpoint at speed causing Gardaí to "take evasive action to avoid being hit." The statement does not record any injury to Gardaí.
Following the incident, the driver, a man in his 30s, then fled across the border into Northern Ireland.
According to Gardaí, the man was arrested in Ravensdale on Monday following liaison with the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
The incident occurred on 21 May, and the man is due to appear before Dundalk District Court at some stage today (27 May).
