Man arrested in connection with “fatal workplace incident” in Tipperary

A man in his 70s has been arrested in connection with a workplace death that occurred in 2016.

The charges pertain to an incident that occurred at Fethard, Tipperary on Sunday June 26, four years ago.

A 23-year-old man died while at work after a work vehicle overturned. Another man, also in his 20s, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. It was reported at the time that the deceased was from Newcastle in the United Kingdom. It is believed that he was on the vehicle when it overturned.

Following an investigation carried out by An Garda Síochána and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA), the man was arrested on Tuesday (21 April), and remanded on bail.  The man is now scheduled to appear at Clonmel District Court on 23 June.
