Man arrested in Limerick after demanding money from man in the street, then headbutting him

The victim required hospital treatment following the assault.

A man in his 30s has been arrested and charged in Limerick in relation to an attempted robbery and assault incident on 23 June.

Shortly before 10pm, a man was walking on Henry Street when he was approached by a man who asked for money.

When the man refused, he was headbutted in the face.

Following a short struggle between the pair, the man fell to the floor and the assailant then fled the scene.

The assaulted man was brought to University Hospital Limerick, where he was treated for his injuries and has since been discharged.

A patrol of the area was carried out by uniform and detective Gardaí from Henry Street and a man was arrested.

He was detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and has since been charged.
