Tragic news from Kildare.

A man in his 40s has been pronounced dead after a two-car road collision in Leixlip, Kildare. The incident occurred shortly before 10am on Saturday morning (11 April).

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that the man, who was in his 40s, died at the scene of the collision. The driver of the second vehicle, a man in his 60s, has been taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

No other injuries arose from the collision.

Forensic Collision Investigators are currently at the scene and the road is currently closed. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí at Leixlip are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward and for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling in the area at the time to make it available to Gardaí.
