Student dies after falling from Cliffs of Moher

It is believed that the man was taking a photograph at the time of the accident.

A man has died after falling from the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare on Friday afternoon.

RTÉ reports that the man, aged in his 20s and believed to be an Indian national studying at university in Dublin, was taking a photograph when the accident occurred.

The incident took place shortly after 3pm on Friday.

Shortly after, the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard and the Shannon-based search and rescue helicopter arrived at the scene.

The man’s body was later recovered by the Coast Guard and has since been removed to the morgue at University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Gardaí are officially treating the death as a tragic accident.
