Very sad news from Cork.

A man in his 50s has died after he was involved in a road traffic collision on Tuesday evening.

Gardaí said that the man received fatal injuries as part of the initial collision with another car. One of the cars then spun out onto the road and hit a third car during the incident.

The incident occurred on the N20 road in Ballybeg, west Buttevant, Cork shortly before 11pm yesterday evening.

The driver and two passengers of the second car were taken to Cork University Hospital with minor injuries.

The road in question is partially closed with local diversions in place as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene.

Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have information regarding this incident, particularly any road users with dash-cam footage who were travelling the Buttevant/Mallow road between 10pm and 11.30pm on 18 February, to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
