Man dies in road collision in Galway

Gardaí in Loughrea in Galway are investigating a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred in Loughrea on Tuesday. The collision occurred at approximately 8am on Tuesday morning on Barrack Street in Loughrea, when a car collided with a steel barrier. The male driver (77) was assisted from the car by passers-by, who performed CPR on the man. The man was taken by ambulance to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, where he was later pronounced dead. No one else was injured in the collision.
