It’s believed he was out swimming with friends at the time.
A man has died suddenly while out swimming in Kinsale, County Cork.
It’s understood that the man, who was in his early 60s, was out swimming with a group when he went into cardiac arrest.
Alarm was raised shortly after 6pm when emergency services were informed of an incident near Sandycove Island. Valentia Coast Guard was also contacted at the time.

Gardaí confirmed to JOE that the man was airlifted to Cork University Hospital and was pronounced dead there.
A post-mortem is set to be conducted on Tuesday afternoon.
